POSITION DESCRIPTION

OUR NEED


Misión Gaia looks for volunteers willing to support the fundraising strategy and that are willing to help in the grant writing process so the organization is able to reach its financial need to increase its impacts in the communities with which it works.


PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This position consists of obtaining funds through written requests in the form of projects and research from potential sponsors or donors. This position will help develop fundraising activities to obtain the necessary resources to operate the organization's programs. It is entirely online and entails donors or potential donor’s database updating, grant applications searching, writing and/ or editing. It also includes: attend virtual meetings with executive and operative direction and making budgets.


REQUIREMENTS


Of legal age, Internet connection and compatibility with GMT-5 time zone

Education / Certifications / Experience / knowledge in web design and social networks


PROJECT DURATION

Minimum 2 months


SCHEDULE FREQUENCY

Flexible schedule, an average of 10 hours per week, plus planning meetings, follow-up or trainings

Responsibilities

  • Get familiar with Misión Gaia’s programs, goals and financial needs

  • Develop fundraising strategies

  • Research and data collection for both grant prospects and grant applications

  • Use research techniques and tools to identify new prospects and complete donor requests

  • Donor outreach

  • Create profile reports tailored to the needs of individual philanthropy programs

  • Create fundraising campaigns online

  • Safeguard the confidentiality of institutional and donor information

  • Develop all activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposal, including budget preparation. If necessary work with other team members to accomplish these activities

  • Compile information for grant reporting

  • Maintain grant application records

Qualifications

SKILLS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Strong written, editing and communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals

  • Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment (Office package, specially excel) and Google docs

  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors

  • Integrity and approachability, as managers and staff must feel able to discuss sensitive and confidential issues with you

  • Understanding the sector we work in as an NGO

  • Knowledge of fundraising information, sources and techniques for fundraising prospect research

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong understanding of non-profit grant budgets
