ENGLISH TEACHER IN RURAL SCHOOLS IN MINCA
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic English teacher to join our team at Misón Gaia. This individual will teach English as a foreign language in Minca through fun activities, games and conversation.

Location: Corregimiento de Minca, Minca, Vista Nieves y Tigrera
Supervisor: Project Coordinator
Contract: Service Provision
Status: Part-Time (from 6 to 12 hours per week, depending on location and availability)
Compensation: Based on weekly hours of classes, monthly payment. Direct deposit. Transportation subsidy for traveling to rural communities.
Compensation rates will vary and be defined based on local employment rates and according to the number of hours worked per week.
Role Description
The English Teacher in the extracurricular club plays a fundamental role in fostering the learning of the English language and the development of communication skills among students. Their main function is to design and facilitate dynamic and participatory extracurricular educational sessions that promote verbal fluency, vocabulary relevant to tourism and customer service, as well as strengthening students' self-esteem and confidence in using the language. Classes are aimed at children, youth, teenagers, and/or young adults, who will enroll out of personal motivation.
General Responsibilities
Be in charge of your group, setting it up in a student-friendly manner, following the instructions and guidelines delivered to you by your supervisor during your induction.
Key Responsibilities
Class Planning:
Develop a detailed activities plan covering the period from July to November, taking into account Misión Gaia's content plan and learning objectives, students' skill level, and specific needs of the tourism and customer service sector.
Effectively prepare for your lessons, ensuring familiarity with all relevant materials and tools from Misión Gaia.
Design various stimulating activities that encourage student participation and promote the comprehensive development of language skills.
Design, organize, manage, and/or request pedagogical materials for the teaching-learning process.
Class Delivery:
Facilitate two-hour English sessions per week, per community, except for Minca, where 3 sessions will be held per week, using methods that include conversation practice, pronunciation exercises, active listening, and role-playing related to tourist and customer service situations.
Create an inclusive and motivating learning environment that invites students to express themselves freely in English and feel comfortable communicating in the language.
Use digital support tools.
Comply with the child safeguarding and protection policy socialized when starting field activities.
Assessment and Feedback:
Regularly assess students' progress through in-class observation, review of tasks and exercises, and conducting formal and informal assessments.
Provide constructive and personalized feedback to each student, highlighting their achievements and offering guidance to improve specific areas of their language competence.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate closely with other project professionals and/or extracurricular clubs to integrate English learning with other thematic areas and promote a comprehensive and enriching educational experience.
Maintain fluid and transparent communication with students, parents, other teachers, and administrative staff of educational institutions and the Foundation, informing about the progress of the club, special events, and any changes in the schedule or planned activities.
Ensure timely submission of the daily class register to the project coordinator.
Report absent students (via established channels) to the project coordinator or general manager.
Ensure timely submission of daily records of work and weekly class objectives.
Prepare monthly or periodic (if required) and end-of-course reports.
Attend a weekly general coordination session, virtually and/or in person.
Participate in school ceremonies and organizational events or community celebrations related to the clubs.
Essential Skills & Requirements
Native speaker level of English proficiency or C1.
University degree in teaching or TEFL level 3 certification.
Experience in teaching English for at least two years.
Demonstrates a high level of understanding of English language teaching and learning.
Focus on quality and student outcomes.
Team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
Ability to build strong and trusting relationships.
Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills; can work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Affiliated with the social security system and paying ARL.
At least have a temporary residence visa in Colombia if not Colombian.
