ENGLISH TEACHER IN RURAL SCHOOLS FOR EDUCATIONAL PROJECT
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic English teacher to join our team at Gaia Mission Foundation. The professional will be responsible for promoting teaching spaces for learning English as a foreign language to meet the pedagogical objectives established in two rural schools and some of their campuses located in Minca, Santa Marta.
Responsibilities and Requirements
Give 72 hours of class per month, approximately 18 per week, in rural schools, following active methodologies and promoting focus on conversation.
Prepare and plan creative and dynamic lessons that promote effective learning of English.
Make evaluations and determine the marks of the works and exams
Offer feedback based on workload and behavior in class
Keep track of student attendance and grades
Investigate new language teaching methods
Manage crises in class and resolve conflicts
Collaborate with teaching staff, rectors and project coordinators to promote a good experience for students.
Develop pedagogical activities with the interdisciplinary team in transversal projects to integrate English into various curricular areas.
Report to the project coordinator, other teachers and the general director on any relevant matter related to English classes.
Be available 4 days a week (Tuesday to Friday) to meet the established schedule.
Being flexible and creative, capable of adapting to the challenges and problems of the rural environment of Santa Marta.
Teach boys & girls, youth and adolescents from first grade of primary school to 11th grade of high school.
Requirements
Level C1 of English or be a native English speaker.
Previous experience teaching English, preferably in educational contexts.
Ability to work autonomously and adapt to rural environments.
Availability to travel to rural schools in Minca, with trips of up to 1.5 hours by motorcycle or car if the person lives in Santa Marta.
Flexibility to work under pressure due to external factors typical of the rural environment.
Willingness to collaborate and understand the specific problems of the rural communities of Santa Marta.
Availability to participate in weekly virtual or face-to-face monitoring and planning meetings.
Work conditions
Minimum pay of 37,000 COP per hour, subject to variation according to the candidate's profile and experience.
Transportation allowances for an additional amount
Optional non-vegetarian lunch provided if the teacher is in the schools at noon.
The contractor will be responsible for paying his social security and complying with the corresponding tax obligations.
Contract for the provision of services with an initial duration of 4 months, with the possibility of renewal for the year 2024.
